Floreat Surgery has serviced our community with high quality medical care for over 30 years.
In July 2021, four local GP’s from Chandlers Hill Surgery purchased Floreat Surgery to ensure services would continue to be provided.
Our reception and nursing staff proudly support 6 Independent Contracted General practitioners who continue to provide comprehensive medical care to our patients living in the southern and surrounding suburbs.
We are part of the RACGP training program and provide teaching and training support to GP Registrars.
Due to Medicare rebates no longer being a sustainable operating module Floreat surgery encourages mixed billing and GPs may no longer bulk bill patients to Medicare routinely.
Consultations are made by appointment with a standard appointment being 15 minutes per patient to assist with 1-2 concerns.
Longer consultations for 3 or 4 (multiple problems), are booked for 30 minutes.
Longer appointments are needs for minor procedures, removal/biopsy of lesions, first antenatal visits, and full “medical” checks, please advise our receptionist if you require a booking for a longer consult.
Unfortunately Floreat surgery is not currently taking on new patients. Bookings when available are require for a 30 minute appointment with the nurse followed by 30 minutes with the GP, to ensure your medical history is comprehensively updated.
Medicare will not cover costs for insurance papaerwork, employment related medicals or Workcover or heavy vehicle license medicals. Invoices are raised for these services and patients are responsible for charges applied.
Test results, recalls, repeat prescriptions and referrals require a booked appointment.
Telephone consultations are available, if medicare eligible, by booking only, fees apply.
Patients who attend the clinic without an appointment (walk in) will be triaged and we will endeavor to offer an appointment.
On arrival please report to the reception desk and our staff will check your identifiers by asking for you full name, date of birth and address.
Please advise us of changes to your address, phone number including mobile, Medicare or concession entitlements and next of kin.
Urgent matters e.g. chest pain, trouble breathing, feverish child, and allergic reactions need to be dealt with as a priority and may effect your waiting time. We apologise for any inconvenience.
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible so that the appointment can be offered to another patient in need. Fees apply for missing two or more appointments within 12months.

Telephone Consultations
With the introduction of telehealth and telephone consultations by Medicare our GPs communicate with patients via phone or video link at a designated time.
Patient phone call requests for advice, scripts, referrals and results require a booked phone appointment with your usual GP.
Please contact the surgery to schedule the next available time.
Telephone or video consultations are available if you have visited Floreat Surgery for a face to face consult in the past 12 months, as regulated by Medicare and additional charges may apply.
Home Visits
This service is only offered by doctors for current eligible patients, on a case by case basis.
Aged Health Assessments are available to patients over 75yrs which involve a nurse attending your home and then following up with a GP in clinic.
If you are interested in this service please call the surgery to discuss.
Cancellations
We would appreciate you telling us as soon as possible if you think you may be late, at times your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
If you need to cancel your appointment please give 2 or more hours notice.
A cancellation fee invoice will be raised after two or more DNA’s within 12months, for non attendance without the 2hr sufficient notice.
Translator Services
If required, the practice can arrange a translator/interpreter through the translator service or the national Auslan booking service.
Please advise reception staff if you require this service.

Our practice endeavours to provide a comprehensive high quality service for our patients.
At times we may invite you to complete a questionnaire to identify areas in which we may improve that service.
